A brand-new user interface rolls out for Freesat customers with a Freesat Recordable 4K TV Box or a Freesat 4K TV Box. Some of the enhancements include:

More space to showcase our editorial team’s TV recommendations.

A modern, customisable TV Guide - you can now see more of what’s on at a glance, and use the List button on your remote control to favourite channels or view programmes with Audio Description and/or Subtitles.

You’ll find all of our apps and on demand recommendations under the On Demand menu.

For our 4K Recordable boxes, all of your recording options remain.

On 1st October 2024 some broadcasters are making important changes to their channels.

You may need to rescan to update your TV and keep your channels and TV Guide up to date.

UKTV is rebranding to U, a new brand that will unite their family of free-to-air channels and their free streaming service.

The new brand will unite UKTV's family of free-to-air channels becoming U&Dave, U&DRAMA, U&YESTERDAY and U&W. Their free streaming service will transition from UKTV Play to U.

The changes will update automatically on your Freesat device on 15th July 2024.

January 2024 - HD Satellite Upgrade for BBC Channels

What is happening?

From January 8^th Starting in 2024, the BBC will end all SD broadcasts on satellite. The BBC is replacing its standard definition (SD) broadcasts on satellite with high definition (HD) versions.

Will you be affected by the switch to HD?

This switch only affects people using an SD-only satellite set-top box. If you’re using an SD-only box, you will lose all BBC SD channels from January 8^th 2024.

How to tell if you’re using an SD-only box?

Go to channel 799 on your TV (Freesat customers only). If you see a “Good news!” message, then you don’t need to do anything. You’re ready and won’t be affected. Over the next few months, your new HD BBC One region will appear on channel 101 automatically.

If you see a “sorry, your satellite set-top box is not capable of receiving high-definition services” message, these changes will affect you and you will need to upgrade your satellite box. However, you may be eligible for extra support.
