Sneakerhead
UKTV Play and Dave, Wednesdays at 10pm starting 13th July
Starring People Just Do Nothing’s Hugo Chegwin alongside double Bafta-winning grime artist and chef Big Zuu, this new UKTV original workplace sitcom follows pushover Russell as he becomes manager of Sports Depot (Peterborough Branch) and desperately tries to manage his colourful, demotivated team.
We had a quick chat with Hugo about the show, and he was quick to tell us what inspired him in the first place:
"There's a guy that works for Roughcut [a production company] and he presented the concept to me about a shop that could be similar to Sports Direct. I worked in Footlocker when I was 19, [so I thought] this could be good."
Upon speaking about Sports Direct, Chegwin had this to say...
"Sports Direct is the most ratchet of all the sports shops because everyone goes there. There's a time when you need to go. You're not going to Footlocker to get socks or camping gear or tennis rackets, [in other words] you'll eventually need to go to Sports Direct in your life."
Pretty accurate.
