Vera

All you need to know about the final season of Vera

It was a sad day for fans of the crime drama when it was announced earlier this year that after a highly successful 14 seasons, Brenda Blethyn will be hanging up Vera’s infamous trench coat for the very last time! Don’t worry though as you’ve still got the final 2 feature-length episodes to come, and we even hear there will be a documentary!

What will season 14 of Vera be about?

In the first of the feature-length episodes, DCI Vera Stanhope (Brenda Blethyn) is brought to the bank of the river Tyne where a body of a former inmate has been discovered. With tales of a broken-relationship, secret lover, many grudges and fraud begin to emerge, Vera must discover whether he’s been served cold justice or is there a lot more to this than meets the eye!

The final episode will see the past and present collide in an emotional farewell. Vera is brought back to a familiar place when the body is found at the foot of the ancient stones, The Dark Wives. Vera must work hard to uncover the mystery of why a young and bright student would be attacked so violently and why he was so far from home!

Who is returning?

Now don't worry, it's certainly not going to be a lonely farewell as David Leon will be back as DI Joe Ashworth, alongside Jon Morrison as DC Kenny Lockhard and Riley Jones as DC Mark Edwards and of-course, Brenda Blethyn as DCI Vera Stanhope.

When and where can I watch it?
