Everything we know about Somewhere Boy on Channel 4

If you haven’t heard already, there’s a brand new drama coming to Channel 4 and the concept is seriously spooky. The show unpacks the unconventional relationship between a man, Steve, and his son, Danny, who live in a house shadowed from the world. Steve has forbidden Danny to leave the house his entire life, because according to Steve, the world is overrun with monsters.

In reality, Steve’s reason for bringing his son up this way stems from a traumatic memory of Danny’s mother who was killed in a car crash when Danny was just a baby. Steve wanted to shelter Danny from the “murderers and wars and drugs and arsehole governments and burgers and evil”, but he takes things to the extreme. Danny grows up listening to Benny Goodman records and watching old movies with no sad endings, until his perfectly sheltered life comes crashing down when he turns 18.

Fun fact: the series was written by newcomer Pete Jackson, and was created by Clerkenwell Films, the same people who brought us The End of the F**ing World!
