How easy is it to switch to Freesat?

Moving to Freesat is very simple, especially if you have an existing satellite dish. Even if you’ve not used it for a while, you just plug your satellite cables onto the back of one of our boxes and you’re good to go.

If you don’t have a satellite dish, then you will need to have one installed before you can use our service. If you are interested in getting a satellite dish installed, then there are plenty of services available which can be found online. If you are in a rented property, you may require permission from your landlord. We recommend speaking with them before getting a satellite fitted.

How do I get Freesat in more than one room?

To get Freesat in more than one room, you'll need a Freesat box or a TV with Freesat built in for each room you want to watch Freesat in, attached to a single satellite dish.

Depending on the age of your dish, in order to support more than one box, your LNB (the protruding antenna of the dish) may need to be upgraded as each Freesat Box must be connected to the satellite dish via a cable (or two if you are connecting a Freesat Smart TV Recorder). A local satellite installer will be able to assess your current satellite dish and advise whether an update is needed to accommodate your requirements.

We have a range of products to suit every room in your home, so you can enjoy brilliant TV wherever you are. So you can have one of our recording boxes in your main room and a discreet, TV Box in a bedroom.

Alternatively if you're currently a Sky TV customer you can run Freesat boxes in other rooms off the same dish and enjoy satellite TV in additional rooms, without another subscription.

Can I record more than one channel?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely! How many you can record depends on the type of satellite dish you have and what you are trying to do.

If you have a SkyQ dish (or another dish that can carry WLNB), then you will be able to record up to 4 programmes at one time. If it is not, then the most you will be able to record at the same time is 2. We recommend you speak with a satellite installer to determine whether you have a LNB or a WLNB dish.

Can I save my favourite channels?

Absolutely, and it's really simple to do.

You can mark a channel as a favourite by completing the following steps:

Press the Home button on your remote control and navigate to Settings.
Then choose Freesat Channels. When selecting this you will be asked to enter your PIN. If you have not set one previously the default PIN is 0000.
Finally, choose Favourite channels. From here you can select the channels you want to save as favourites and then press the Back button.

You can access your favourite channels by going to the TV guide and pressing the LIST button on your remote.
